I think this picture is from the late 50′s due to the clothes they are wearing. I also believe that they are trying to watch a baseball game maybe in their home town. The game could have been sold out or maybe they don’t have enough money due to tough times. Since they can not get in they are trying to get a peek at the game through that gap.
